Courses Taught on a Regular Basis
Research Interests
Trophic interactions, predator-prey ecological interactions, ecology of
fish. Since 1980, I have collaborated with the University of Wisconsin-Madison
Center
for Limnology on NSF research projects involving cascading trophic
interactions; specifically, research projects that study whole-lake ecological
processes, including: predator-prey interactions, nutrient loading rates,
food web structure and dissolved carbon (DOC) concentrations. Current investigations
focus on the conditions that drive lakes to dystrophy or eutrophy. Our
study lakes are located on the property of the University
of Notre Dame Environmental Research Center in Michigan's Upper
Peninsula. In addition to St. Norbert College, and the Center for Limnology,
the Institute of Ecosystem Study
is
involved in this study. The project is funded by the National Science Foundation
and includes undergraduate researchers. To get more information about an
NSF student research position with me during the summer and academic year,
click on "NSF
Aquatic Ecology Project." Additionally, I have general interests
in tropical biology and mammalian ecology.
